Giving a maid of honor speech that individuals will remember you by by Tariq Ghazi

A close friend’s or a sister’s marriage is the time to start preparing for a maid of honor speech. The maid of honor speech needs to be ready cautiously as it has a exceptional place in the marriage. If this is the first time that you will be delivering a speech in a gathering, you might be feeling nervous thinking about the wedding day. This is absolutely regular and in point of fact that should give you the need and determination to give your fullest for the wedding day. Since the maid of honor is usually the bride’s close friend or sister or a close family member, everyone will be looking forward to the maid of honor speech.

Being a maid of honor implies your maid of honor speech will be much looked forward to at the wedding. You will also be granted a special place at the front of the line in the wedding. Your maid of honor speech will be after the Best Man’s speech. You could start with a call to toast the bride and groom and add emotional and funny touches to your speech. Since you would have known the bride for quite some time, you could mention the importance of your relationship with her and as well lend any best-known anecdotes that have tagged your connection. You could say how much those instances passed mean to you and how you will forever appreciate them. Your maid of honor speech could then also have a good receive to the groom and his -household and if the groom is familiar to you, your maid of honor speech could mention how happy you are that they will be together and you look forward to loving and passing time with the both of them in the future.

It is regular to be nervous while you get ready for your maid of honor wedding speech but being sincere in your feelings is one of the healthiest ways to get by it. Everyone treasures honest opinions and true feeling and nothing moves individuals with maid of honor speeches than those which are genuine and expressed from the heart. If you have real apprehensions on being able to pull it off, then make the maid of honor speech brief but pleasing. Just tell about how delighted you are at the gathering and how much you look forward to prolonging your tremendous relationship with them.

For your address to have utmost impact and be best treasured, add humorous anecdotes and personal info and keep maid of honor speeches positive and satisfying as a whole.

Have brief but strong beginning and closing statements to help people recollect your maid of honor speech and be appreciative of the work you have put in. While you could initiate with a call to toast the couple you could end your maid of honor speech with a line of welcoming them to the family. Most importantly, be positive and hold eye contact with your audience and you are sure to carry off your maid of honor speech at the wedding.

7 Thoughts and Tips on Keeping Your Perspective

7 Thoughts and Tips on Keeping Your Perspective by Joan Celebi

For parents of children with special needs, right now is an excellent time to sit back and gain some perspective. With summertime still in full swing, you may be getting a break from the number of special-needs-related meetings, phone calls, appointments. This may also be a good time to give yourself a little break from all the research you’ve been doing! Take some time this week for some quiet reflection.

Looking Back

1. Look back to see how far you’ve come, how far your child, and your family, have come. You can look back to where you all were months ago, a year ago, 10 years ago. What’s changed? What has stayed constant? What kinds of progress are you most pleased with? What areas still need work?

In my family, we’ve certainly come a long way over the years. I learned early on to be a strong advocate for my son. My son is learning to advocate for himself. Our family has learned new strategies for managing challenging behavior, so we can spend less time and energy on “discipline” and more time just having fun together. We have plenty of areas where we can continue to improve! But I love all the things that have stayed constant in our lives: our commitment to kindness, thoughtfulness, and laughter.

Focusing on Right Now

2. Maintaining perspective helps us sort out what’s important right now, what can wait until later, and what we can let go of. With less than a month before school starts, are there certain priorities you may want to address now, while there’s still time to do so in a way that’s unhurried and thought through carefully. Your priorities don’t have to be school related, though. For example, I consider ice cream, beach time, and plenty of downtime to be important priorities!

Looking Forward

3. Perspective also means looking ahead. What goals do you have for your child, for your family, for YOU? What matters to you most? Think ahead to the next 90 days … the next 6 months … the next year … And what is your long-term vision for the future?

As you look back and look ahead, you may realize that your goals have changed. If that’s the case, are you seeing progress toward these new goals? Or is there a feeling of being stuck, or of not even knowing where to begin? It may be time to have some conversations about this with your spouse or partner, and also with your children. (You’ll be amazed at the great ideas kids can come up with!)

Reducing Stress

4. Keeping things in perspective also helps us manage stress. When we “don’t sweat the small stuff,” it’s easier to stay calm and cultivate inner peace. When we can stay focused on big picture, we’re not as likely to be drawn into less significant issues that can take up valuable time and sap our energy.

Stress can have all kinds of harmful affects on our health - physical, mental, and emotional. While you can’t always control which or when stressful events enter your life, you CAN control how you react to them.

Focusing on What’s Important

5. Keeping things in perspective helps us choose our battles wisely.

I recently spoke with a former client of mine who has made leaps and bounds in her ability to focus on what’s important. She told me that at a school meeting earlier this summer, one of the teachers referred to “special needs children.” Although in the past she might have stopped the conversation to explain that she preferred the term “children with special needs,” and why she feels it’s important to use people-first language, in this particular situation she recognized the teacher’s good intentions and decided it would be better to mention it in private at a later time. Rather than risk putting the teacher in an awkward position and possibly de-railing the meeting, she kept the conversation on track, and was very satisfied with the plans that were made and the consensus that was reached.

When we don’t have the time we need to reflect and to keep things in perspective, it’s difficult to have the presence of mind necessary to distinguish the “small stuff” from the “big stuff,” and then to act accordingly. Giving yourself the gift of this time will result in all kinds of wonderful benefits.

Deciding on Priorities for 2009-2010

6. View upcoming school year in perspective by taking a long view of the months on your calendar. Right now, if you look at your calendar for September, October, and beyond, you’ll probably see a lot of white space. Are there things you want to make sure you can fit into the school year schedule? Whether it’s tutoring, outdoor time, or time to just be together as a family, grab that time now while it’s still available! Reserve time now for priorities.

Living According to Your Core Values

7. Perspective helps us keep our priorities straight, which in turn helps us align our daily lives with what truly matters most. It’s often “easier said than done” to live by our own golden rules. We may tell our children “don’t cry over spilled milk” only to find ourselves getting annoyed or upset when the milk gets spilled. It takes conscious effort to train oneself to really, TRULY not be bothered by the spilled milk –and yes, I’m speaking from experience!

Don’t be discouraged if you can’t live every moment according to your highest ideals. First of all nobody’s perfect, nor would we want our children growing up seeing us as paragons of perfection. It’s valuable for them to see mom and dad make mistakes, then use them as opportunities to learn and grow. And secondly, it takes time, patience, and practice to translate your core values into daily actions, no matter how small. Maintaining perspective makes that process a whole lot easier.

How has keeping your perspective helped you as a parent of a child with special needs?

Save Money & the planet with homemade solar panel

Save Money & the planet with homemade solar panel by Jason Rabey

With the increasing expenses of power, the quickly rising ecological topics such as worldwide warming touching everybody in a unenthusiastic way, it is up to us to begin probing for additional ways, such as home-made solar plates, to supply us with the power we require. We surely can not leave it up to the corporation who “power” the world, they simply profit from the non-renewable resources of power that are crippling the planet’s economic state, & continually contaminating our planet.
Are home-made Solar plates fairly Worth It?

Before I understood anything about home-made solar plates, renewable power, & “living off the grid”, some query I had were all centered approximately the Is it worth it? Factor. Query that you may also have, which include:

- ½ How a great deal does it price to aquire or set up a home-made solar panel?

- ½ What type of practical knowledge do I require to have in order to construct my own solar plates?

- ½ How a lot of people solar plates do I require to substitute my present non-renewable power usage?

Needless to declare, I discovered all the solutions to those query on a single website, & was extremely satisfied with my conclusions. I learned that it doesn’t price a great deal at all to set up my extremely own home-made solar panel, & even had the opportunity to construct wind turbines & wind generators too if that would be enhanced for me. I choose, though, to go with solar panels-it’s just a matter of individual preference & your local natural world that decides which would be best for you.

So far as practical knowledge, I’ve never been technically-minded at all & I had no trouble constructing my home-made solar plates. I deduce you can declare the simply practical knowledge that was essential is being able to follow step by step directions.

At firstly I thought I would require 50 various home-made solar plates in order to substitute my present non-renewable power usage because I apply a lot of power, but astonishingly, I simply essential to construct 3 to have a lot more than I essential to go “off the grid”. I now enjoy having a free supply of power that I can apply as a great deal as I require of, & at the same time know that I’m not damaging our natural world.

How to Persevere to be the Best Dad You Can Be

How to Persevere to be the Best Dad You Can Be by Lome Aseron

Copyright (c) 2009 Lome Aseron
I recently found myself on YouTube marveling at a video of Hawaiian youth soccer prodigy KJ Ahlo’s morning routing. In the opening frame, you see him sleeping with about a dozen soccer balls. The first thing he does when he wakes up is kick one of them. As he walks to his bathroom to brush his teeth and get ready for the day, he kicks another one of the many soccer balls strewn on his floor.

We can learn a lot as fathers from that small clip. We may not know what KJ is thinking, but we can see that he’s keeping his mind on soccer. And if you keep watching the video or venture into any of the clips on YouTube of KJ playing with kids twice his size and age, you can see that it pays off. You can’t help thinking: “how does he do that?”

Our path to being the best father we can be is the same - the more we keep our mind on being available to our children, the more we will become the father we envision for our children. When we surround ourselves with inspiring images or thoughts about fatherhood, they will seep into our minds and bodies until one day we look at ourselves in the mirror and see a great father.

Like an athlete, there is something that we already have that we can build on. It may be the ability to teach our child something, a commitment to care-giving that goes beyond traditional models, or the ability to be patient and gentle under difficult circumstances. Whatever it is, we can nurture it constantly by going to sleep with it, waking up with it, and walking through our day with it. When we do that, we find that it’s not so much that we are building ourselves up to be a loving father, but that we are removing all resistance to unleashing the loving father that already exists within ourselves. Like KJ, we just keep at it until people look at what we do with our children and ask: “how does he do that?”

Right now, pick up a pen and write three things about yourself that you would put on a list of the characteristics of a great father. You can even make them into statements, such as: “I recognize the importance of getting along with my spouse,” or, “I love my daughter even when she is throwing a temper tantrum.” Then put them somewhere where you can see them at least 4 to 5 times a day. I like to enlarge them and tape them on the ceiling right above where I sleep. I guarantee that you will see a shift in your awareness of how these traits make a positive impact on your relationship with your son or daughter.

P.S. Don’t forget to check out KJ’s morning routine:

Keep your Babies Skin Healthy

Keep your Babies Skin Healthy! by Roxanne Kelly

There are many baby skincare products available all claiming to keep our baby’s skin as soft as the day he or she was born. IN the womb the baby is coated in a waxy substance called vernix, but once born the vernix comes away with essential washing as the baby grows. The P.H level of a baby’s skin is almost perfect, yet an adult’s skin is more acidic therefore making the ph level higher. The skincare products keep the baby’s skin as moisturized as possible without any harsh perfumes and chemicals that some products created for adults contain. The products differ in ingredients but the main thing all these products have in common is that they are made with your baby’s delicate skincare needs in mind.
The Arbonne baby skincare range is formulated in Switzerland at the Arbonne institute of research and development. All the baby products are P.H correct (5.5) and are made from plants and herbs blended with science. The products are formulated without mineral oil which can affect the skins function and also without dyes or chemical fragrances, which are well known to cause allergic reactions in sensitive skin, such as that of a baby. None of the products are tested on animals; they are tested on humans who are closely watched by a dermatologist. Products in the Arbonne range include the ABC (Arbonne baby care herbal diaper rash cream, body oil and hair and body wash, also available are sets which work out cheaper than buying the products one item at a time.

The Johnson’s baby skincare range has been around since 1890. The first product was the Johnson’s baby talc, which still today has the same fragrance. Johnson’s is the largest manufacturer of healthcare products. The well known no more tears formula is as kind to baby’s skin and eyes as pure water. The nighttime range has been clinically proven to help babies fall asleep and once asleep they will get a better nights sleep, meaning you will too. The nighttime products include the bedtime bath, and bedtime lotions formulated from a blend of gentle ingredients and soothing aromas such as lavender (known for its relaxing properties).

The Playtex baby skincare range is better known as Baby magic. It has been around since 1951 and the well-known fragrance remains the same. The Playtex baby skincare range is hypoallergenic. The complete body wash is enriched with Aloe. The range replenishes moisture and provides a delicate soft scent. There many products include the Baby Magic body lotion, Baby Magic baby powder. Also available is the calming range with lavender.

Huggies are well known for the nappies they have been making for many years but hey also have a baby skincare range too. The Huggies wipes came in 1996 but realizing that every baby’s skin is different they also introduced extra sensitive wipes in 2005. The Huggies skincare range is made to suit all types of skin and there are different variations to choose form such as the extra sensitive, normal or dry giving you the right amount of moisturizing and care whatever the type of skin your baby has. The bath time range comes in lavender and chamomile, which is great for bedtime. Recently the Huggies baby skincare range also introduced disposable washcloths, which are much more hygienic than flannels as they can be thrown away. The Huggies nappy range is Hydrogen bleached not chlorine bleached so is therefore much kinder on the skin, which is important when a baby spends the first few years in a nappy most of the time.

The Burts Bees Baby skincare range has been creating products for babies for over 10 years. The whole company has been going since 1989. ALL products are 100% natural with the Burts Bees Company hoping to become the greenest personal care company on earth. The Burts Bees baby skincare range contains no chemical preservatives, dyes or sudsing agents. The Burts Bees baby skincare range includes the Baby bee diaper ointment, which contains vitamin E, zinc oxide and beeswax to create a natural barrier to keep unwanted moisture out yet keep the skin under the barrier moisturized. The bubble bath is tear free and contains plant based nourishing soy to wash baby’s delicate skin without irritation and also has glycerin added to moisturize, along with vanilla to help calm the baby.

About the Author
The main difference between an adults and babies skin is the ph level. IN babies it is almost perfect (5.5) where as an adults skin is more acidic having a higher ph. Baby skincare products are tailored to meet the needs of baby skin and are made to promote comfort and strength as the skin grows and matures. To keep the baby’s skin soft it needs to be moisturized and kept as near to the ph level as it had when the baby was born.

How Switching to Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs Can Save You Money

How Switching to Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs Can Save You Money by Beverly Saltonstall

As more and more people are realizing that one individual can make a difference with pollution, the “Green Movement” is spreading.
The problem is that with all the media hype, most people think it’s too hard a job to go green. In truth, there are literally thousands of easy ways to go green. One of the most cost efficient and easiest ways to go green is to switch from incandescent light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL’s).

History of Early Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

Not many people realize that fluorescent light bulbs have been around since the 1800’s. In the 1970’s, General Electric improved the design, but found it was too expensive to build factories to mass produce the bulbs. The use of these bulbs was generally limited to office buildings, garages and under the kitchen cabinets.

In addition, the light they gave off was not of the quality we expected from an incandescent light bulb. The shape also restricted their use to a fixture that would allow the use of a long tubular bulb. They could not be easily used in table lamps, desk lamps or floor lamps.

Another factor that limited their use was that they often flickered and made an annoying humming noise.

In recent years, all that has changed. Improvements in the bulbs, especially with the development of the electronic ballast, have eliminated most of the negative features that made them less popular in the past.

The Pros of Compact Fluorescent Lamp, (CFL’S)

Listed here are some of the positive reasons to switch to CFL’s:

1. CFL’s now are shaped to fit nearly all our light fixtures.

2. The light they give off is comparable to traditional light bulbs.

3. They use 75-80% less electricity then traditional light bulbs.

4. A 60w standard bulb can be replaced with a 13-15w CFL Bulb to give the same amount of light.

5. The CFL bulbs last ten times longer. The average life span of a CFL is ten times longer than that of a standard light bulb.

6. It is estimated that using one CFL bulb will keep one half a ton of carbon dioxide from being dumped into the atmosphere over the life of that bulb.

7. The CFL bulb is less hot to touch, so is easier to change if it had been lit.

8. There will be eight less incandescent light bulbs that find their way into landfills if CFL’s are used.

9. CFL’s now come in many designs and can be used for many different applications.

10. The installation of CFL’s can earn a discount with some utility companies.

The Cons of Modern Compact Fluorescent Bulbs, (CFL’S)

As with anything, there are some negative features to these bulbs that should be taken into consideration when you decide to make the switch.

1. CFL’s have a higher initial cost.

2. CFL’s do not work well in places where the light is switched on and off frequently. The life span of the bulb is reduced in these situations.

3. Special bulbs are needed for dimmer switches, as not all CFL’s can be used in dimmer switches. Again the life of the bulb will be shortened.

4. Some timer mechanisms are incompatible with CFL’s.

5. Not all bulbs are suitable for outdoor use. Low temperatures may reduce light levels.

6. CFL’s contain a small amount of mercury which is toxic. Mercury vapor can be released if the bulb is broken.

7. Bulbs of inferior quality are showing up on the store shelves and may not be of high quality and will not last as long.

Despite the negatives, CFL’s have become extremely popular in the last several years.

Benefits of CFL’s

Replacing one 60 watt standard bulb with a 15-w CFL will save you more than $40 in electricity costs over the life of the bulb if you use it 6 hours a day. Add to that less trips to the store, and less money spent on replacement bulbs, the savings are significant.

Multiply that times the number of light bulbs you have in your home and you could realize a significant savings in both money and energy consumption.

Some states require that burned out CFL’s be disposed of at a hazardous waste facility (the preferred method of disposal) while most municipalities allow them to be disposed of in regular trash. Stores like Home Depot and Ikea are offering easy recycling for CFL’s.

CFL’s do contain a small amount of mercury and opponents to these bulb cite that as a major drawback. You just need to remember that these type bulbs should never be incinerated. This will disperse the mercury into the atmosphere.

Conclusion

The benefits of CFL’s have become evident in terms of the amount of energy saved and the amount of green house gasses that are not being pumped into the atmosphere. If everyone in the US used CFL’s we could retire 90 average size power plants.

In an effort to reduce greenhouse gasses, Australia and Canada have already banned the use of incandescent bulbs and the United States has passed legislation that is phasing out the manufacture of incandescent light bulbs and will ban them entirely by the year 2012.

Replacing energy-hogging incandescent bulbs with energy-saving fluorescents (CFLs) is a simple, effective way to slow the rate of global climate change while saving money. It’s good for the environment, it’s economical, it’s efficient, and it’s easy.

Parenting Tips for Child Behavior Problems

Parenting Tips for Child Behavior Problems by Jayne Harris

While there are many joys involved in parenting, most parents find dealing with bad child behavior a less enjoyable challenge. Most parents learn from experience and making mistakes how important it is to be consistent when dealing with child behavior problems. Parents discover that the combination of consistency and following through with consequences for bad child behavior is the most effective strategy.
To be effective in handling child behavior problems, it is important for both parents to agree on the discipline strategy. Both parents need to be involved so that they are both on the same page and apply consequences consistently in similar situations.

The best plan is for both parents to sit down with their children and outline the rules and expectations for good child behavior and make sure that the consequences for violating those rules is clearly understood by their children. Both parents should agree that the intended consequences for any occurrence of bad child behavior is fair, and that they apply it consistently in the firm and calm manner. If parents disagree concerning the best way to deal with their children’s bad behavior is best to discuss this when the children are not present.

When children sense discord, they often attempt to manipulate the situation to their advantage. Children learn very quickly how to play one parent off against the other, and this should be avoided.

It is important for parents to “practice what they preach” when it comes to teaching their children good child’s behavior.. Primarily children learn by watching rather than listening. Most learning is “caught rather than taught” which is why it is important for parents to be both in agreement about how they will deal with child behavior problems.

when frustrated by their children’s bad behavior, it can be easy for parents to get into the habit of screaming at them to be quiet or spanking them for hitting someone. Unfortunately parents discover that this behavior is copied and is considered as “acceptable behavior” by their children. For this reason, demonstrating a good example of acceptable behavior by parents is important. Therefore to avoid this situation, parents need to discuss ahead of time what is an appropriate parental response to inappropriate child behavior, and use it consistently in disciplining their children. For example using a “time out” technique when bad child behavior occurs is more appropriate and effective than the use of spanking.

Parents also need to be aware that child discipline strategies that work now, may not work later as the child matures. Some situations may require a different approach and so parents need to be sensitive to know when rules should be modified or abolished altogether, and when consequences need to be adjusted.

7 Necessities You Should Have Before Your Baby Comes Home

7 Necessities You Should Have Before Your Baby Comes Home by Ann Mweu

With the many equipments in the baby shops nowadays, its very hard and confusing to chose the right ones. To help you make the right choice of the most necessary ones, here are some basic to have in hand ready by the time your baby arrives home.
1. -A crib that meets all the safety specification. New crib usually meets this specification but if you’re looking at used cribs, make sure they also meet the same. 2. -A crib mattress that is firm and covered with a material that can be easy cleaned. If this material is made of plastic or other nonabsorbent materials, place a thick fabric pad on top of it. 3. - Use crib bumpers to keep your baby from hitting her head on the crib bars. Make sure this bumpers are tired to the crib railing using all the strings, do not use pillow in a newborn crib, they are potentially dangerous. Remove the bumper when the baby starts to stand to avoid the baby using them to climb out of the crib. 4. -Bedding for the crib including a flannel-backed, waterproof mattress cover and two or more bed filter sheets. 5. - A changing table that meets all safety specifications, the table should be placed on a carpet or padded mat and against a wall and not the window to avoid the baby falling down. Table can also have shelves to hold diapers, pins and other changing equipment within reach but away from the baby. 6. - If you are going to wash your own diapers, you will need a second pail so you can separate wet from soiled ones, and have clean and dry ones for the baby to keep using. 7. -A large plastic washtub or basin for the baby only. Always make sure the bathing area is very clean prior to bathing your baby.

10 Crib Hazard you can prevent by observing the following Guidelines. 1. If you purchase a new mattress, remove and destroy all plastic wrapping material that comes with it. 2. As soon as your baby can sit, lower the mattress of the crib to the level where the baby can’t fall out either by leaning against the side or by pulling themselves over it. 3. Be sure to lock the latch that holds the side of the crib up tightly so the baby can not accidentally release it. 4. The mattress should fit snugly so that your baby cannot slip in to the crack between it and the crib. 5. Periodically, check the crib to be sure there are no rough edges or sharp points on the metal parts and no splinters or cracks in the wood. 6. Use a crib bumper when you baby is an infant, the padding should go round the crib and secured well with at least six straps or ties. 7. As soon as your baby can pull to a standing position, remove the crib bumpers. Toys, pillows as well as the stuffed animals that are large enough to be used as a step to climb out of the crib. 8. If you hang a mobile over your baby’s crib, be sure it is securely attached and hang it high enough out of the reach from the baby. Remove it when the baby starts to sit. 9. Cribs gyms should be removed as soon as your infant can get up on all fours because the baby can fall on to the gym and become strangled. 10. To prevent the most serious of falls, dont ever place the crib any child bed beside a window.

The signs of teething to look for in your children

The signs of teething to look for in your children by Jess Chamberlain

There are ten signs of teething that all parents should be aware of so they can understand why their baby is fussy or uncomfortable during this milestone:
The signs of teething usually begin a few months or weeks before their first tooth even appears, so you will need to look for these symptoms to ensure that the symptoms you notice are truly teething-related symptoms and nothing something else that needs to be checked by your pediatrician.

1. Irritability: If your baby is fussy and crying and putting their hand in their mouth it could be a result of the new tooth coming to the surface of the gum.

2. Drooling: Drooling is a common symptom of teething due to the increase in saliva.

3. Coughing: When your baby starts teething they drool and have increased saliva which can cause your baby to cough or gag. Watch your baby to make sure it is just teething and not a cold.

4. Rash on their chin: If your child drools often due to teething, the saliva can cause and irritation or rash on your baby’s chin. Make sure to gently wipe your baby’s mouth and chin during the day to help prevent rashes.

5. Fever: A fever is another symptom that sometimes accompanies teething but it is usually very low-grade.

6. Biting & gnawing: A teething baby will put just about anything in their mouth to help massage their sore gums. You can purchase teething aids which are designed specifically for babies going through the teething process and they are safe and effective.

7. Cold like symptoms (runny nose, etc.): If your child displays cold like symptoms which include coughing, runny nose and acts like they don’t feel, take them to doctor to verify that it is in fact just teething rather than a cold.

8. Diarrhea: You may notice that your child has diarrhea while teething. Doctors believe that the most likely cause of diarrhea during teething is the extra saliva swallowed, which then loosens the stool. Contact your child’s pediatrician if any diarrhea that lasts for more than three bowel movements.

9. Pulling at their ear: The ear pulling signal can confuse parents because not only can it mean that your babies molars are starting to come in but it can also mean your baby has an ear infection. One way to determine if it is an ear infection is if they have a fever.

10. Lack of sleep: Children that are uncomfortable while teething will often wake up frequently in the night.
